AITA for telling the school nurse she not a dentist and reporting her? On Monday, my 7-year-old son came home missing his front tooth. It was slightly loose but not ready to come out. When I asked what happened, he showed me the tooth in a small bag and said the nurse had pulled it out. I was stunned.
I contacted his teacher, who explained that my son had been wiggling the tooth a lot and, when asked if it was about to fall out, said he didn’t know. The teacher sent him to the nurse, expecting her to examine the tooth and call me if it was ready to come out.

Instead, she yanked it out, causing my son discomfort. He said it hurt. I confronted the nurse and told her she had no right to do that. She said the tooth was very loose and she was worried he might swallow it.
I asked why she didn’t call me, as she’s not a dentist, and ended up causing him pain. She claimed she’s been a school nurse for years. I told her she should have known better and called her actions unprofessional.
I spoke to the vice principal, who confirmed that it’s not within a school nurse’s duties to pull teeth and that she should have informed me instead. The vice principal was also upset that the nurse didn’t even send a note, which is standard procedure. However, she mentioned I could have been less aggressive in my response.
