AITA for Making Popcorn While My Aunt and Cousins Lives Are Falling Apart?

AITA for Making Popcorn While My Aunt and Cousins Lives Are Falling Apart? When my grandparents were young, they founded their own business and worked tirelessly until they achieved success. Since then, all their children and their spouses have been involved in the business. My mother left after about five years, and my uncle did the same, but my aunt, the eldest, never left.

My grandparents bought two houses back when they were affordable. My aunt, uncle, and two cousins (21F and 26M) reside in one house, while my grandparents live in the other. For the past 30 or 35 years, my aunt has been benefiting from everything my grandparents built. It’s blatant nepotism, and I’m not afraid to say it. The only time she, my uncle, or my cousins interact with my grandparents is when they want money.

Recently, my grandparents decided to retire and sell the business the same business my aunt and uncle assumed they would inherit. This business is the reason they have been living rent-free for nearly 30 years and something my aunt has used to assert dominance over us for years.

I care for my aunt and cousins, but I recognize the nepotism. They always expect everything without putting in any effort. They only see what they perceive as an injustice against them, not the fact that, for the first time in decades, our grandparents will finally be able to relax.

They always flaunted “their money” and acted superior. We received the same amount but didn’t use it because we didn’t consider it ours we hadn’t earned it.

Now, they are likely going to go broke and lose everything. And I’m here for it. You reap what you sow, self-righteous fools.

When my grandparents were young, they launched their own business and labored diligently until they attained success. Since then, all their children and their spouses have participated in the enterprise. My mother departed after roughly five years, and my uncle did likewise, but my aunt, the eldest, never left.

My grandparents purchased two houses back when they were still affordable. My aunt, uncle, and two cousins (21F and 26M) inhabit one house, while my grandparents reside in the other. For the past 30 or 35 years, my aunt has been thriving off everything my grandparents established.

It’s outright nepotism, and I’ll openly acknowledge it. The only time she, my uncle, or my cousins communicate with my grandparents is when they seek financial support.

Recently, my grandparents opted to retire and sell the business the very business my aunt and uncle presumed they would inherit. This business is why they have been living rent-free for nearly 30 years and a tool my aunt has wielded over us for years.

I’m going to wait to pass judgment on the grandparents. With them selling now, it gives me a whiff that they are cutting their losses with these leeches. We, and most likely OP who is a grandchild and probably wouldn’t have been included in the discussions, don’t know if they were spoiled or what occurred. Grandparents might be setting things up to reallocate their assets more fairly among their children.

They do what everyone else does. They are working in the business, have an interest in it. They would approach a bank & buy out the business as a business loan against the capital in the business based on the financial statements & due diligence. Then pay back that loan from business profits. If the business succeeds under their managemen, well & good. If it doesn’t, grandparents have their money secured & aunt can sink or swim based on their business acumen.

They lived very extravagantly. It was always a fight because my cousins had everything we wanted. They had the best toys and clothes.

You’ll love this. My aunt and uncle have both been disinhereted, but only my sister and I know that the will was changed. The rest is going into a trust that only the 8 grandchildren will have access to.

I’m guessing the grandparents arfale selling the business instead of passing it down because they know what mooches the aunt & cousins are. OP, it won’t be long before they come after you for your money. Be warned.
