We both had the builder install fences, which extended into the buffer zone between the golf course and our properties, a common practice in the neighborhood. The buffer zone is mainly for drainage, with the only rule being no structures allowed in it.
The lady started harassing us, accusing us of stealing land for our fences and ruining her peaceful living on a 0.2-acre lot. She reported me to the HOA for something in my backyard, called the cops on the kids playing outside at 3 PM on a Saturday, and filed a complaint against our realtor. She even harassed the wife next door, who eventually got a restraining order against her. The lady’s behavior escalated to filming the neighbors through their windows, which led to her arrest and a felony charge.
Despite being offered a deal to sell her house and move, she refused. After continuing to scream at the kids while out on bail, her bail was revoked, and she ended up in jail. Now, her house is for sale.

My nephew has also suggested getting a box of really good chocolates (removing & eating said chocolates himself, of course), filling the empty box of chocolates with dog poop and earthworms (diabolical), putting that box into a larger box, & overnighting it to the neighbor. He’s 8 and I love him.
Our Boomer neighbour has complained multiple times because we bought the previously abandoned 100 acre farm next to him and now we’re GASP using it as a farm. Apparently my animals “interrupt his napping”.
When I was a kid a guy moved into my neighborhood that hated the sounds of kids playing and had anger and self control issues, so about once a week he was outside raging at us kids for being kids, eventually culminating with banging on our doors to yell and froth at parents. I personally got screamed and raged at because he thought I shot his van with a squirt gun as he drove by. When my mother came out he did the same to her, which ended with the police visiting his house.
Neighbors started calling the police whenever he would come barreling outside to confront a kid and he had several visits before abruptly moving out.
I remember an older lady yelling at me and my friends for playing outside our houses. I was about 10 and already wasn’t having that nonsense so I told her, “If you don’t want to hear kids playing then you should move to an old folks home!”
She sputtered a bit then stormed to my house to tell my mother, probably expecting my mom to punish me for not respecting my elders. Instead my mom said, “Well, she’s right,” and closed the door.
